Sweetness in Vinegar

20 years ago, today, my hubby and I were officially introduced by friends at our school Sports Day, at our local outdoor stadium. I was the A student and he was one of the bad boyz in school. He is purely a "Chinese" chinese and me a banana chinese! He can't really master his English and me no speak Mandarin at all. How these two can ever get magnet-ted, remains a mystery.

I have always believed that the love that you cannot get is always the best love. For example, there is this pretty fair girl that you've had a crush on in high school/college. Ya, maybe you guys have made it together, but then fate wasn't helping thus this puppy love got nowhere. And then both of you made your own separate ways and then 2 decades passed.

Then, one rainy day, you thought of this girl and aww...that feelings in the heart... it feels sour, but in the meantime still sweet right? It's like finding sweetness in vinegar.

I wish I can make that happen to my first love. But..Mr Fate was such a kind friend, he just paired me off with my first love, until now lah! No, I still love this same man that much but I envy how "that sweet girl" in his heart can never be me... hahahaha...

Aiyah...blame it on one Taiwanese movie I've recently watched: You Are The Apple Of My Eye... This movie is time-lined during my puppy love era..hahah..so got feel lor..

Anyway, happy anniversary, dear..you're always the apple of my eye :)

Black Friday in November

What a week, what a week.

My lil B had fever for two days, and on the third, it went up to 40 degrees. Went back to our GP, was asked to admit him immediately. 3 nights at Tropicana Medical Centre, 3 packs IV fluid, suspected of throat infection and RM2000. Unbearable, heartbroken, sleepless nights. It wasn't my boy who was fussy, it's the 5-other children in the same ward.

Back home, recuperated for a day or so, he started vomiting and having diarhhea. To add to the total misery, I had eye infection myself. Forced MC by the doc, or my colleagues and boss will get it too! On this fateful Friday 4 Nov, I allowed hubs to drive this short-distant 5-mins drive to Tropicana Medical Centre.

Along the Persiaran Mahagoni, came this crazy car, which raced from the opposite road and just turned to his right. Hubs had to avoid it, and our car lost control and bang to one lamp-post. I was sitting behind, holding a vomit bag in case lil B vomits, saw myself nearing the lamp-post. My heart sank. My brain blank. BANG! Lil B screamed and cried aloud.

The reckless driver did stop for a while, and the raced off. Heartless idoit..heartless bastard.

I came down from the car, saw some cuts on hubs face. I almost cried.

A nice couple drove me and lil B to Tropicana Medical Centre, while my bro and colleauges came to hubs' aid. Haih... the car the car.. but I was lucky the lamp-post hit the front passanger seat, not the back passenger seat. The situation could have been worse.

I hurt my left back. I don't know how long the pain will be there. I don't care, for now. I can't. No car, no kaki, as they said.

Doc said lil B is down with food poisoning. The next few days were total madness. The trauma, the cleaning up, etc. I can't remember how I survived not sleeping.. Days later, he got better. And then, he came down with measles.. ah ah ah....

I truly appreciate my brother, my colleagues and my friends, who sent their concern and love, via sms-es, messages, calls... They offered to send food to my house, offered to send me to work, back home, etc.

So there is one thing I earned from this incident: During our toughest times, our eyes are clear to see who our true friends are....

Mooncake Festival

Happy mooncake festival to you, mom.. bet you must be busy, preparing for dinner tonight with Aunty No.3. Ya, I assume she and grandma are with you now? Cos whenever I dreamed of you, Grandma and 3rd Aunt are always with you. You look good in my dreams, with your usual signature sweet smile.

Mom, there's not a day I have not thought of you. I asked lil B, do you miss Nai Nai. He always says yes, she is with God upstairs now. He'd point to the ceiling and speak to you a bit.

Now, Mooncake festival is just another day. . I will always remember that butterfly lantern you gave me when I was little. By the way, Mom, lantern nowadays are a bit different already. Kids LOVE this angry bird thing and everything is about them.

This is how the lantern looks like:

Do you guys also have them up there?

Mom' passing

Date: somewhere in April 2011

My dad called me quite late one evening, all frustrated. He said mom didn't wanna speak to him. Mom didn't wanna move. She was laying on the floor next to her bed, body all sweaty wet, but refused to speak or move or change or anything.

I called her mobile phone, she didn't utter a word.

Next day, dad realised she had stroke. She must have fallen from her bed, and stroke had her. She was hospitalised since then.

Date: 28 May 2011, Saturday

That night, I dreamed of my mom. After her stroke, she was unable to speak. But in my dream, she was standing there, looking very pale, but her words were very, very clear. She kinda comforted me, saying, "Don't worry too much. All will be fine" (in our Hokkien dialect).

Date: 30 May 2011, Monday

Two days after my dream, my mom passed away.

My mom at her final stage of cancer; she helped in sewing for her church event.

Somewhere in February 1992...

Somewhere in February 1992, this girl... It was her first year in high school.

It was her school's sports day. She hated the sun! Attendance was compulsory. No excuse.

She went to the local stadium where it was held, with most of her bffs. She was introduced to many friends, athletes, teachers and ya, she got sun tan too.. Nothing very exciting in particular, apart from this comical scene.

There's this school mate that was bluntly introduced to her. From which class again, she didn't bother. Acting like a mob head, he had a string of fellow friends behind him all the time. He kept following her since morning, ya, he was in this black shirt. She was condemning in her heart, "Already skin so black, don't lar wear so black.. fashion disaster!" It was totally a nuisance.

She sat down at the stairs watching a sports relay, listening to the then popular Walkman. One side was her listening, the other on her best friend. She was attending to the race and when she turned around to speak to her bff, it turned out to be that nuisance! Her bff has betrayed her literally! She felt mad. She then saw her bff giggling away. Mad became funny.

It turned out to be a cute acquaintance. Actually, it turned out to be a rather momentous acquaintance.

The girl and that guy in black got married, 12 years later...

Migraine vs Earth Hour 2011

Migraine is already part of my life. It's rather like, you know, pimples breakout, mensus cramp and breast pain. If you're a man and reading this, don't frown, just smile and be grateful you never had to endure the pain (directly)..

I had my worst migraine yesterday.

It attacked when I was getting down the car to get my son's cough medicine at our GP. And while we were waiting, I felt nauseas and went straight to the washroom. I felt so giddy I poured out all my beef lasagna! hahahaha..now I can laugh it out, but yesterday I felt like a lifeless fish..

Hubs drove us home. The journey from Subang Jaya to Kota Damansara never felt so far, ever. I was holding tight to my chair, forcing to swallow the induced sour juice. yucks..

I couldn't hold it any longer. Thanks to my colleague's recommendation, I managed to grab one of my MH Air Sickness Bag, ripped it open and in no seconds, filled up with more lasagna, apple juice and god knows what else.. beh tahan the smell!!!!

Reached home, and vommitted for another n times, and just blackout! Coincidently, it was Earth Hour. What a way to show support, huh...
